Kindertransports
The Kindertransport was a rescue mission that took place before the outbreak of World War II, facilitating the transportation of over 10,000 Jewish children from Nazi-occupied territories to safety in Britain. Many of these children were saved from imminent danger and went on to live full lives, often sharing their stories and experiences. Most never saw their parents again.
In a train stations in Berlin, Prague, Vienna and other locations, Mothers and Fathers put their children on trains hoping to save them from impending extermination. These transports continued until September 1, 1939, the beginning of WWII when all kindertransports were stopped. Over 10,000 were rescued, most never seeing their parents again.
Nicholas Winton was a British humanitarian who saved 669 children from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia, organizing their transport to safety just before World War II.
